THE WILSON FOUNDATION HISTORY
For over 60 years, G.L. Wilson Building Company has provided top quality building construction throughout North Carolina and the Southeast. Integrity, commitment and skill have enabled G.L. Wilson to expand its services even in difficult economic times. The dedication of both management and employees has made it possible to contribute to the community through The Wilson Foundation.
Founded in 1980, The Wilson Foundation has been able to provide community and humanitarian support in excess of two million dollars to over 100 organizations. For this, we thank our dedicated and hardworking employees and our loyal customers. Without their support, The Wilson Foundation would not be possible.
The Wilson Foundation is a private charitable foundation chartered in North Carolina and tax exempt under IRS section 501(c)(3). It does not solicit funding or contributions. Historically, the contributor to the Foundation is G.L. Wilson Building Company.
WHAT THE WILSON FOUNDATION DOES
The Wilson Foundation has provided support for the following areas of service:
- Social Services
- Religion and Christian Fellowship
- Education
- Health
- Arts and Humanities
- Criminal Justice
- Environment
Most of the Foundation’s grants are awarded to agencies in the Statesville area that work to improve the quality of life for Statesville residents. Preference for funding is given to North Carolina applicants with additional consideration given to organizations referred by our employees and customers.
PRIORITIES AND RESTRICTIONS FOR FUNDING
Emphasis is given to educational programs that provide training in construction related fields. Grants are not awarded for political campaign activity or support.
The Wilson Foundation does not fund proposals that require multi-year obligations.
HOW TO APPLY FOR FUNDING
To apply for a grant from The Wilson Foundation, agencies should submit a written request by letter or email. An IRS determination letter for the agency’s 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status should be included. Mail, deliver or email the application to:

Grant applications should be submitted before September 30th each year. Grants that will receive funding will be identified by December 20th of each year.
