Thomas L. WilsonThomas L. Wilson
President

Tom joined his father at G.L. Wilson Building Company in 1960, although his career was interrupted soon after by the U.S. Army calling him back to active duty. When he returned, he and his brothers grew the business to include completed projects in twenty-six states and a regional office in Norfolk, Virginia.

Tom graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering with a Construction Option. He is the qualifier for the general contractor licenses in numerous states. He continues to contribute to the community by actively serving on the boards of directors of a variety of institutions that include colleges, hospitals, banks and charitable foundations.

James WilsonJames D. Wilson
Executive Vice President

Jim joined G. L. Wilson Building Company in 1965. He has worked as an estimator and project manager and now provides guidance as senior manager. One of his proudest accomplishments was to conclude a long-term negotiation for the contract to build a Statesville facility for a large foreign company.

Jim graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering with a Construction Option. He is a member of the Iredell County Salvation Army advisory board and enjoys golf.

Thomas likes to say that his first job with G. L. Wilson Building Company was mowing grass as a kid. He formally joined the company in 1994 and has worked as an estimator and project manager. He is active in business development.

Thomas graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He is licensed as a general contractor and also has a NC Real Estate License. Thomas has participated in various leadership development programs in both Charlotte and Statesville. He enjoys travel and following the Carolina Panthers football team.

Julia WilsonJulia L. Wilson, AIA
Vice President

Julia joined G.L. Wilson Building Company in early 2006 with over twenty years of management experience in corporate real estate, architecture and general construction. The high-profile projects and programs she was responsible for varied in scope, complexity and location. She currently serves as manager of operations for the company’s regional office in Norfolk, VA and provides direction for all design build projects.

Julia graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and is licensed as an Architect in North Carolina. She is active on several local Boards and is a dedicated advocate of artisans of traditional crafts.

Bob PalmesBob Palmes
Vice President, Business Development

Bob came to G.L. Wilson Building Company in 1994 with a varied background in the local and regional business communities. Bob graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and is also a licensed North Carolina real estate broker. He is an active youth leader in both athletics and church activities including local and district leadership roles with the Boy Scouts of America.

Meredith NicholsonMeredith M. Nicholson
Treasurer

Meredith came to G.L. Wilson Building Company in 2000. Fifteen years as senior staff auditor at Cline & Company, CPAs made the transition a smooth one. Her focus in the fields of construction, banking and governmental accounting provided the foundation for facing the financial climate of the past six years.

Meredith graduated from Kings College with a degree in accounting and has furthered her education at N C State and East Carolina University with a continued emphasis in accounting and political science. Early in the 1990s, she became one of the first women in Iredell County to become a licensed N. C. General Contractor.

Margaret JohnsonMargaret W. Johnson
Corporate Secretary, Assistant Treasurer

Margaret joined G. L. Wilson Building Company in 1962 as a receptionist, moved into accounting in 1964, and was promoted to Administration Assistant in1980 and later Administrative Manager. She has worked in all fields of construction office work. Margaret graduated from Taylorsville High School and Statesville Business School.
