First Presbyterian Church, located in Statesville, NC, was renovated in 2001 by G. L. Wilson Building Company while occupied. Patching the existing hardwood floors required using salvaged wood in order to match the type and finish of the floors. Pulpit platform and millwork were also renovated to match. The floor of the sanctuary was reinforced to comply with current load requirements and new joists attached to each existing joist. Due to the age of the facility, existing joists were 3” x 13” instead of typical dressed framing measurements. G. L. Wilson participated in coordination of multi-prime contractors, architect, structural engineer, PME engineer, asbestos abatement contractor, and church entities in order to obtain successful completion of the renovations.
