In 1945, Statesville and the entire country faced a tremendous housing shortage. Iredell County residents were in need of good, reliable home-builders. It was then that the late Gordon L. Wilson, with only ten employees and limited resources, set out to meet the market demand.
By 1950, the growing company shifted its emphasis from residential building to industrial, public, and health care construction. G.L. Wilson Building Company became known for its expertise, and by the mid-1960s, the company expanded from a local builder to a multi-state contractor.
Over the years, there have been many changes in construction designs, supplies, equipment, costs, and market demands. While modernizing with changes in the industry, G.L. Wilson Building Company remains true to Gordon L. Wilson’s original promise: to create quality products efficiently and economically.
