Union Grove, NC Union Grove Lumber Union Grove, NC To bring their new headquarters to life, Union Grove Lumber hired G.L. Wilson Building Company to coordinate this intensive renovation project. Adding unique interior and exterior design elements, including a sawdust-filled feature wall, the space now houses a full kitchen, large conference spaces, offices, a children’s playroom, and a receiving lobby. Design/Build by G.L. Wilson Building Company. “Our project began with a building that originated in 1985 and had not seen any updates in 37 years. Designers and engineers were first on site to analyze the ‘situation at hand’- after many brainstorming sessions and analyzing what we wanted vs. what was reality, we confirmed a plan of action. This was a HUGE project for us, and G.L. Wilson understood that and accommodated many meetings and visionary discussions. Once ‘the ground broke’ on our project, the project manager and the site manager kept us updated each step of the way. They welcomed our many visits and ensured that our process was smooth. As with any remodel, hiccups were experienced but were swiftly ironed out to keep the project flowing. Relationships are key with any construction project; we fully trusted the entire G.L. Wilson team. Our company’s motto is “On Target from Start to Finish” – perhaps G.L. Wilson should adopt that motto because it was our experience with them. Our building (inside and out) is gorgeous. Statesville, NC Parker Hannifin Statesville, NC This project in the Crawford Road industrial district represents a strong example of a total renovation and upfit of an existing structure. The scope of work covered two sections: office and manufacturing spaces. The manufacturing floor received new dock seals, dock levelers, truck restraints, portal steel, sidewalks, and windows. Installation of new mechanical units and restroom upgrades, including tile, fixtures, vanities, lighting, cabinets in the kitchen and breakrooms, ceilings, doors, and storefronts, were core items addressed on the office side. The demolition of the existing space, as well as extensive electrical and flooring/floor refinishing, encompassed the entirety of the renovated area. Design/Build by G.L. Wilson Building Company. As soon as a schematic design is developed, our engineers, designers, estimators, and project managers begin collaborating to deliver the highest-quality product for our clients. As the design team begins developing building design and civil engineering, they regularly consult with the estimating and project management teams to ensure to ensure a high quality and cost-effective design meeting the customer's goals and expectations. At each stage, every department is given the opportunity to provide input and share their expertise to support well-informed decisions. During the preconstruction phase, cost estimates are developed at key milestones and presented alongside progress drawings for the client’s review and feedback. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Schematic Design / Budget Development Deliverables at this stage include: A high-level floor plan and site layout are established. A preliminary budget is created using historical cost data and current market conditions. Once the schematic design and budget are approved by the client, the project proceeds to the preliminary design phases. Building Design Civil/Site Plan Design Cost Estimate Deliverables at this stage include: A finalized floor plan that meets the owner’s requirements. Defined exterior elevations with general notes on materials and finishes. Preliminary Civil Drawings Featuring: Accurate placement of site components such as buildings, driveways, parking areas, and stormwater ponds. A basic stormwater review to determine preliminary requirements. Utility connection points and estimated utility line quantities. A preliminary estimate is then prepared, offering a more detailed cost analysis than the schematic budget. If the client is satisfied with the design and estimate, the project moves forward to final design. If adjustments are needed, G.L. Wilson revises the plans or applies value engineering as directed. This phase typically includes multiple coordination meetings with the client. Taylorsville, NC Paragon Films Taylorsville, NC G.L. Wilson originally constructed Paragon Films’ building in the mid-1990s as a speculative building. In 2005, 2009, 2020, 2022, and 2024, G.L. Wilson worked with them to design and build over 143,000 SF of manufacturing additions to meet their growing needs. These additions were completed during normal operations, and the G.L. Mooresville, NC FeedNC Mooresville, NC When FeedNC, originally located in Downtown Mooresville, decided it was time to scale its facility and expand its outreach, it partnered with G.L. Wilson Building Company and project architect Schaeffer Design Associates. Combining Chief Industries’ pre-engineered metal structures with more traditional steel frame construction to achieve a community-oriented and highly functional space for employees, volunteers, and visitors alike, this 26,459-square-foot multipurpose facility houses a large food bank, industrial and instruction kitchens, classroom space, a cafeteria-style dining area, and ample office space for staff. FeedNC received the 2023 Building of The Year Award from Chief Industries.
